How Can Interior Designers Best Integrate AI into their Daily Workflows While Managing Privacy and Maintaining Creativity?
Exploring how interior designers can integrate AI into daily workflows while balancing privacy concerns and preserving their creative edge.
A conversation between Jenna Gaidusek, Founder of AI for Interior Designers™, and Julia Reinert, Founder of The Lifestyle Historian™
Based on Podcast Episode 60: “Work Like a Team of Four: The New AI Reality for Interior Designers”
Julia: Jenna, this episode really struck me because you went way beyond just talking about AI tools. You shared so many practical insights on how you personally use AI in your day-to-day work and life, especially as a busy working mom balancing family and business.
Jenna: Yes, my intention was for this episode to be about real-life application. AI isn’t just a shiny new tool anymore. It’s become a team member in my workflow, helping me multiply my capacity. Still, it’s not without its risks and complexities.
Julia: You talked a lot about Agentic AI, your AI assistant that you use for everything from organizing links after presentations to managing your calendar and sending the right content to the right people. It’s amazing how it acts almost like a personal assistant.
Jenna: It’s definitely like having a team of four instead of just myself. I can delegate the repetitive and administrative tasks to AI so I can focus on the creative and strategic parts of my work. It has totally changed how much I can accomplish in a day.
Julia: I loved how transparent you were about privacy concerns. So many people hesitate because they’re worried about giving AI access to their email or sensitive info.
Jenna: That’s a real concern and everyone has to make their own choice. I emphasized that if you don’t give permission, the AI can’t access that info. But you also have to weigh the risks, like my husband’s Etsy account hack showed, breaches can happen anywhere, not just through AI tools.
Julia: Right, it’s about being cautiously optimistic. You also suggested reading and understanding terms and conditions, and even using AI to help break down complex privacy policies.
Jenna: Being informed is key and using platforms with strong privacy like Google’s helps me feel more comfortable. But ultimately, you have to decide if the time-saving benefits outweigh the risks for you.
Julia: Another important point was how you’re integrating multiple AI tools such as Agentic AI, Perplexity Browser, custom workflows, etc. instead of juggling dozens of different subscriptions.
Jenna: That’s the dream. Consolidation lets me streamline my processes without burning out on tool overload or spending a fortune. Building workflows that talk to each other is how I stay efficient.
Julia: And your perspective as a working mom really came through between juggling kids’ schedules, meetings, and travel-you really need all the help you can get!
Jenna: Yes, my work day is done by 2 or 3 pm because the kids are home, so the AI is critical for me to accomplish everything else in that time. For me, it’s about freeing up time for what really matters.
Julia: You also touched on the emotional side and how AI frees you to focus on the human experience, the connection with clients, and the parts of design you truly love.
Jenna: That’s so important. AI is not taking over creativity, it’s handling the tedious parts I don’t love like fine-tuned searching or link checking. That lets me put more energy into creating meaningful, intentional spaces that uplift people.
Julia: You also acknowledged the speed of change in AI and how what you’re doing now could be light years behind next month.
Jenna: It’s a fast-moving space and you have to stay flexible and keep experimenting. But that doesn’t mean you have to do everything or feel overwhelmed. Focus on offloading just those tasks that take way too long and that don’t add creative value.
Julia: Finally, your emphasis on ethics and purpose really resonated. You want to have fun with AI but also be responsible and intentional.
Jenna: AI is powerful, but it comes with responsibility. We need to be purposeful about how we use it, respect privacy, and keep creativity and human connection at the heart of what we do.
Final Thoughts from Both of Us
Julia: This episode was a great reminder that AI is not just about tools but about mindset. It’s about embracing new ways of working, protecting what matters, and keeping your unique creative voice front and center.
Jenna: Yes, and it’s about building your own personal AI team that supports you, not replaces you. When used thoughtfully, AI multiplies your impact and frees you to do what you love most.
